Athena’s Story:
Athena’s story is
much different from Xzus’. Athena was originally owned by Jeremiah’s sister,
who lived in the city. Athena was purchased from a breeder in OK after the
purchase of an older red male pup.
Unfortunately, the older pup wouldn’t allow
Athena to eat and she turned to skin and bone. During this time, Jeremiah’s
brother-in-law underwent back surgery and they could no longer devote the time
needed to nurse Athena into proper health and remedy the behavioral issues with
the male. So, we took Athena into our home and nursed her back to health.

Today she is very
healthy and happy. Due to her slow development as a pup, she didn’t begin her
seasons until a bit late so May 2008 was our first litter after she was 3 years
old. She is lead broke, house broke and knows very basic commands such as sit,
down, and shake; but her training never exceeded this. She is an extremely
submissive girl and sweet as pie.
Athena and Xzus are
great friends along with our adopted lab-mix, Ellie. She is on the small side
weighing in at just over 60 pounds but is an excellent mother and awesome
around kids.

June 17, 2009: We
lost Athena to a truck with 5 day old pups. She has been a great friend, loyal
companion, beloved dog and a fabulous mother. We are devastated by this loss.
